       Carroll Community School District Position Title: Tier III - Specialized Special Education Teacher Associate Qualifications: 1. High school graduate or equivalency diploma2. Prior satisfactory work experience with children or youth preferred3. Evidence of mental and emotional maturity and stability4. Technology Skills5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable. Reports To: Building Principal/Designee Supervises: All job areas assigned by the Building Principal/Designee Position Goal: Supervision and support of student. Performance Responsibilities: 1. Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis. 2. Works with students in asupportive roleunder conditions determined by the instructional professional staff responsible for the students, but not as a substitute for or replacement of functions and duties of a teacher as established in the Code. a. Enables and encourages students' independence.b. Learns to effectively operate communication devices and other assistive technology required by students. c. Assists with implementing students' Individualized Education Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans with fidelity. d. Assists with implementing students' Individualized Health Care Plans, emergency plans and/or evacuation plans. e. Modifies and/or accommodates materials under the teacher's direction. f. Assists with group instructional reinforcement, support students at teacher's direction, as needed. g. Assists in individual or group data collection and progress monitoring. h. Assists in providing feedback on student work. i. Assists teacher in promoting a positive learning environment. Supports and maintains individualized behavior management programs. j. Assists teacher with implementation of specific instructional requirements as indicated in the individual education plans for each student. k. Assists with preparation of instructional materials as needed. l. Assists teacher with gathering data for reports and paperwork related functions as needed. 3. Students with Physical Needs: a. Assists students as needed, including but not limited to: lifting and carrying of students including on and off the bus; diapering; toilet training and assisting in the bathroom; feeding; and providing academic assistance. 4. Students with Behavior Needs: a. Assists willingly in potential Non-Violent Crisis Interventions utilizing the skills learned through CPI training in accordance within Iowa Department of Education Regulations: Chapter 103.b. Assists willingly in the maintenance of student safety if student attempt elopement through skills learned through CPI training in accordance within Iowa Department of Education Regulations: Chapter 103. 5. Assists teacher and/or administrator in supervision of students including, but not limited to: loading/unloading buses, hallways, lunchroom, playground and in individualized settings. 6. Participates in required professional development as designated by the District a. Bloodborne Pathogens b. Mandatory Reporter: Child & Adult c. CPI Restraint & De-esclation (REQUIRED) 7. Operates school equipment such as Chromebooks, copier, communication devices, etc. 8. Required to attend 7 professional development days throughout the school year: 2 at the beginning of the school year and 5 as determined by the District during the school year. 9. Demonstrates professionalism and maintains confidentiality. 10. Assumes other duties as requested by the superintendent, building principal, or designee. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and length of contract to be set and reviewed by the board annually. EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated once every two years in accordance with provisions of board policy and the Employee Handbook.
