About the Role

This position reports directly to the IMM Department Manager and is responsible for the general and specific job duties of Decostar as described below:

Your Responsibilities

  • To exhibit a fair and consistent management approach that follows the principles outlined in The Magna Employee’s Charter to ensure a satisfied and productive employee workplace.

  • To lead and direct Company health and safety objectives that provide for a safe and healthful workplace for all Decostar employees.

  • To identify growth and developmental opportunities and on-going training needs of personnel that will provide for an overall positive working environment.

  • To perform regular workplace inspections, conducting safety talks, staff meetings, being involved in the accident/incident investigation program, training new employees, correcting unsafe acts or conditions, correct or commend health and safety performance and conducting performance appraisals for workers’ safety performance.

  • To follow Company policies and display conduct expected of Decostar employees as described in the employee handbook.

  • To persuade and support the following of Company policies and business objectives in the daily management of the operations of the Company.

  • To meet and maintain all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Decostar.

  • Have knowledge of your responsibility regarding health and safety in the workplace and be able to communicate the existence of any potential or actual danger to the employee including setting and maintaining clear, written goals.

  • Understand the employee’s rights under the OSHA Act and do not allow for discrimination against any employee exercising their rights.

  • Cooperate with OSHA/State OSHA inspectors.

  • Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set good workplace standards and ensure all employees maintain those standards.

  • Know and maintain the safety rules for Decostar Industries.

  • Have knowledge of general workplace health and safety in regards to the general public and visitors to Decostar.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Lead the material handlers and mold setters in team activities to maintain and continuously improve on IMM department/shift performance goals.

  • Direct all IMM changes and modifications to the control plan resulting from continuous improvement activities as well as internal or external customer requirements.

  • Prepare management summary reports and trend charts detailing department key efficiency operating indicators.

  • Communicate and liaison with the department manager all data as necessary to ensure timely resolution of quality and downtime issues, and to expedite the brainstorming and decision making process.

  • Analyze data to determine statistics, trends, measurable, etc. and take action as required.

  • Cooperate with Paint Department, Maintenance, Tooling and Production Scheduling to prevent the further processing of non-conforming product and the effective scheduling of the paint line. Initiate and verify effectiveness of action plans to prevent their reoccurrence.

  • Train staff members in ISO/TS16949 requirements for the Molding Department. Ensure strict compliance to all ISO/TS16949 procedures and work guidance.

  • Direct Molding Department employees to accurately input data as required ensuring the reliability of information used for departmental reports process capability and materials management.

  • Facilitate positive working relationships between all support staffs in a team environment.

  • Maintain a high departmental standard for housekeeping within the Molding department.

  • Assess the abilities of personnel and resources, and allocate them to the areas of their greatest expertise and utilization.

  • Responsible for part quality and has the authority to stop production, if required, to correct quality problems.

  • Conduct employee performance appraisals as required.

  • Perform regular workplace inspections.

  • Ensure that all accidents are properly reported and accident investigations are completed within 24 hours.

  • Responsible for proper handling, storage and disposal of all chemicals, used materials and equipment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Molding Department Manager.

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Six years work related experience might be substituted in lieu of degree. Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered.

  • Operational knowledge of management information systems, use of personal computers and application software.
