Amazon Software Development Manager, Woot! in Carrollton, Texas

Woot!, the daily deals site, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Software Development Manager to lead a talented engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of innovative solutions that delight our customers.

As the Software Development Manager, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organization to translate business requirements into elegant, user-centric technology. You'll leverage your deep expertise in Agile methodologies, cloud infrastructure, and modern web development frameworks to deliver impactful solutions that push the boundaries of Woot!

You will lead a skilled cross-functional team of engineers, you will drive the technical roadmap, optimize development processes, and ensure the highest standards of code quality and product excellence. Your keen eye for details, ability to juggle multiple priorities, and talent for mentoring and motivating your team will be crucial as you work to achieve ambitious business objectives.

Key job responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for your team

  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of innovative solutions that enhance the customer experience

  • Manage aspects of the software development lifecycle such as, architecture, coding, testing, and deployment

  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment and mentor junior developers to help them grow their skills

  • Establish and monitor key performance metrics to ensure the team is meeting business objectives and delivering high-quality, scalable code

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders (e.g., product, design, operations) to translate business needs into technical requirements

  • Optimize development processes and practices to improve efficiency, quality, and time-to-market

  • Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and methodologies to drive continuous improvement

  • Participate in the technical hiring process

  • Champion a culture of innovation and continuous learning

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Carrollton, TX, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
