Overview

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The Forklift Operator is responsible for transporting product within the warehouse safely and efficiently. The Forklift Operator may perform receiving and/or shipping functions, product replenishment in the pickline or in the assembly are as assigned by the department lead or supervisor. In addition, this position will assist with the daily cycle count and yearly physical inventory processes and other tasks as required. This role requires flexibility with work schedule, ability to work overtime, Saturdays, and some Holidays as required to meet business needs.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Perform daily forklift inspections to ensure optimum use of material handling equipment. Record and report any equipment problems to the Warehouse Supervisor.

  • Operate forklifts in a safe and appropriate manner to ensure no damage occurs to the product, pallet racks, trucks, forklifts, and other equipment within the warehouse while loading/unloading trucks, transferring, and storing products. All accidents, incidents and damages must be immediately reported.

  • Accurately record products transferred within the warehouse and provide real-time updates to the inventory management system with the use of the radio frequency bar coding system.

  • Process in a timely manner and accurately all assignments and tasks to ensure smooth operational flow at all time. This includes shipment receipts, resupply orders, cycle counts, product replenishment and put away, etc.

  • When processing all inbound shipments (purchase orders, resupply orders, and transfers) ensure all deliveries that arrive at the DC by 2:00pm are updated the same day in the inventory management system. Confirm and record products received on a dock receipt. All paperwork must be submitted including all variances to the department Lead or Supervisor to properly process in the inventory management system.

  • When processing all outbound shipments, accurately pull and stage requested products based on designated product locations and quantities listed on picking lists. Indicate on picking lists any location or quantity changes. Complete necessary shipping documents and notify department Lead or Supervisor of any quantity changes that are under/over what is requested to ship.

  • When performing product replenishment within the pickline flow rack, pickline bulk rack back up locator, and assembly locators, ensure all designed locators are sufficiently stocked and all transfers are properly transacted to accurately update the inventory management system. In addition, the IBOD operation area is frequently attended to ensuring products are readily available for box opening and put away

  • Perform cycle count and physical inventory processes in accordance with set counting procedure and schedules. Accurately record counts and report any variances found during count process

  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area keeping a constant watch for any safety issues. Notify Warehouse Supervisor, Warehouse Manager or Security immediately of any unsafe working conditions or practices observed in the work area.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills:

  • Good working knowledge of warehousing operations and safety as it relates to the specific functions of product movement, inventory systems and forklift operations

  • Experienced in the use of radio frequency bar code scanners

  • Good mathematical skills

  • Must be able to repeatedly lift and transfer boxes of products throughout the day

  • Read, write and understand English with strong oral communication skills

  • Ability to carry out responsibilities under general supervision

  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity

  • Ability to function as an effective team member and work well in a moderately stressful environment

  • Ability to respond effectively and positively in a rapidly changing warehouse environment

  • Clean, neat, organized and alert

Experience:

  • 1 year of stand-up forklift operator experience

  • 2 years of general warehousing experience

  • Good working knowledge of warehousing operations as it relates to the specific functions of product movement, inventory systems and forklift operations

  • Experienced in the use of radio frequency bar code scanners

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years forklift operator experience

  • 3 years’ experience in general warehousing

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
