Humana Senior Data Scientist in Carson City, Nevada

The Senior Data Scientist will contribute to Generative AI initiatives at Humana, leveraging state-of-the-art LLMs to build applications. The Senior Data Scientist uses Machine Learning, AI, GenAI, mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions. The Senior Data Scientist work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The Senior Data Scientist:

  • Works with Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and GenAI

  • Develops, maintains, and collects structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting

  • Creates reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics

  • Begins to influence department’s strategy

  • Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of applicable experience OR Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience

  • Experience with Python, PySpark, Machine Learning, and AI

  • Experience building applications and deploying products into production

  • Experience in using mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions

  • Experience in working with assignments that involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors

  • Experience in developing, maintaining, and collecting structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting

  • Experience in creating reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics

  • Ability to make decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components

  • Proven ability to independently run/manage projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD

  • Prior experience with NLP and LLMs (Hugging Face, OpenAI, Langchain, etc.)

  • Prior experience with Microsoft Azure and the Azure data ecosystem

  • Prior consulting experience

Work at Home Guidance

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$117,600 - $161,700 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
