       Application Deadline: Open until filled SALARY: $20.59 per hour DESCRIPTION: M-F 6.5 hours per day REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED Responsibilities Include:

  • Adapting classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher(s) as requested to support reinforce classroom objectives, student/IEP goals, etc.

  • Administers tests, homework, make-up work, etc. as requested to support student needs in the classroom

  • Assists students (e.g. diapering, lifting, transitioning, etc.) as necessary to attend to student’s personal hygiene and care needs

  • Attends meetings and in-service presentations as requested

  • Escorts student(s) (e.g. bathroom, classroom, hallway, etc.) as necessary

  • Assists supervising teacher(s) with tasks as requested

  • Implements, under the supervision of assigned teacher(s), research based interventions and/or behavior plans

  • Maintains instructional materials and ensures availability of necessary items for student to be successful

  • Monitors student’s daily schedule and behavior plan as necessary

  • Provides, under the supervision of assigned teacher(s), instruction to student(s) in a variety of individual and group activities to reinforce instructional objectives, to implement IEP plans, etc.

  • Supervises individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. field trips, hallways, bus loading areas, cafeteria, assemblies, classrooms, etc.)

  • Assists in preparing the learning environment to allow the student to participate in classroom activities

  • Attends any problem solving/IEP meetings as requested and provides input as to the student’s progress

  • Collects data on the student’s IEP/individual goals as requested

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Ability to work well with all levels of internal management, staff, and students

  • Ability to respond to changing situations in the workplace and exhibit flexibility

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently and adapt to changing work priorities

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and with frequent interruptions

  • Ability to set work priorities, take initiative, and work efficiently under minimum supervision

  • Ability to exercise tact, good judgment, and initiative in dealing with students, faculty, and parents/guardians

  • Ability to establish good relationships with children

  • Ability to remain calm in a variety of situations
