Douglas County Government Senior Accounting Specialist in Castle Rock, Colorado
This is complex clerical and accounting work performing calculations and record keeping duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.)
Review and verify supplier invoices and check requests. Prepares batch check runs, wire transfers and ACH payments. Communicates with the suppliers and/or internal staff about discrepancies. Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions. Maintains, updates and submits 1099's to the Internal Revenue Service. Maintains and updates lists of un-cleared checks and communicates with vendors. Maintains backup for any A/P unclaimed property reported to the State. Scans documents for the Finance Office. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. Performs other duties as required to support the Finance Department.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or GED. Must have five years of accounting work experience. A combination of experience and education may be considered.
