Job Description

BAE Systems is looking for a Material Engineer with a passion for engineering and the desire to be part of an innovative, dedicated team responsible for industry-leading Global Positioning Systems (GPS) products. Our team needs someone interested in a hands-on experience working in a Material and Component Evaluation lab. This position offers abundant opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of materials used in electronic assemblies, techniques used for failure analysis and work in a team environment.

Assignments may include tasks such as obtaining dimensional measurements of parts, XRF analysis, FTIR Analysis, cross-sectioning, using Ion Chromatography equipment, failure analysis of electronic parts or assemblies and evaluating new processes. The successful applicant should be knowledgeable of lab practices and basic lab equipment.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Applicant must be pursuing a STEM degree in an applicable engineering or science field of Material, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

  • US Citizenship

  • Sophomore or Junior year of college

  • Experience with lab equipment

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Prefer applicants pursuing a Material Engineering degree

  • Experience with cross-sectioning

  • Ability to work with a diverse team

  • A genuine desire to learn and innovate

  • Enjoys failure analysis

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $42931 - $57949

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
