General Function:
Performs a variety of cleaning actives designed to maintain an orderly, sanitary, safe and attractive work environment inside and out of the center. Work activities are varied in nature and are subject to frequent interruptions and changes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Adheres to company policies and individual center guidelines.
Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
Orders cleaning products as needed; audits invoices for correctness.
Responsible for total center cleanliness and appearance, inside and out. Duties include but not limited to sweeping, mopping, waxing, buffing, vacuuming, power washing, scrubbing, dusting, shampooing of carpets and sanitizing.
Cleans and disinfects areas by washing furnishings, tile, fixtures and equipment with cleaning solutions; polishes sinks, drinking fountains, toilets, mirrors and similar apparatus; spot wash walls, light switches, telephones; wash or clean window and doors; keep all debris in area picked up.
Responsible for cleaning delivery vehicles inside and out, totes used for packaging products and carts used for deliveries.
Constantly keeps informed of new products used, keeps updated on safety procedures such as OSHA laws, safety equipment, MSDS, ladder safety, etc.; monitors and reports safety related problems.
Collects and removes trash inside and outside of work area. Keeps all trash containers properly lined and cleaned inside and out.
Replenishes assigned areas with hand cleaner, paper towels, toilet tissue and other disposable items.
Maintains janitorial equipment, tools and storage areas in a clean, orderly and safe usable state at all times.
Changes light bulbs as needed.
Monitors plumbing, fixtures, coolers and freezers and notifies supervisors if repairs are needed.
Installs and replaces paper towel, toilet paper and soap dispensers when needed.
Responsible for some equipment maintenance.
Unclogs drains where needed.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in other areas of center as needed.
Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
Cleans cooling systems and filters for the center.
Always presents oneself in a clean and professional manner.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
Must have the ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions.
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers.
Have the ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies verbally or in writing.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; minimum of one year experience as a custodian or equivalent experience.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to be on feet (standing and walking) for 6-8 hours a day.
Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions:
This is a fast paced work environment and will require some pressure to meet deadlines. This position could involve exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment movement hazards (pallet jack), cleaning chemicals/solvents and electrical shock.
Equipment Used to Perform Job:
Scrubber, buffer/swing machine, mop, hand scraper, screw driver, wrench, and hand tools, power hand tools, vacuum.
Contacts:
Has daily contact with suppliers/vendors, employees and office personnel. Occasional contact with federal or state regulatory agencies regarding inspections.
