Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and repair on tractors and trailers, ensuring compliance with D.O.T. regulations and safety standards. The ideal candidate will conduct thorough diagnostics and perform various repair and maintenance tasks, including minor welding, to maintain the quality and functionality of our fleet.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventative maintenance on tractors to maintain D.O.T. regulations and safety.

• Perform quality and accurate maintenance and repair on tractors and trailers based on work orders.

• Diagnose problem areas and determine needed maintenance.

• Repair and replace brakes, engines, transmissions, air conditioning units, air chambers, wheel bearings, wheel seals, dollies, doors, door seals, lights, tractor body, and tires.

• Install and repair satellite units.

• Align axles as needed.

• Perform P.M. services and minor damage repair, including welding on aluminum and steel.

• Maintain organization of the shop and follow proper shop procedures.

• Assist other shop staff with maintenance as needed.

• Perform various ground and property maintenance tasks as required.

• Assist drivers with questions regarding tractor/trailer repair and direct them to the necessary department.

• Participate in departmental training on updated repair procedures, safety awareness, and equipment changes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2 years of Diesel School or 2 years of experience in a diesel shop or farm

• Ability to lift 70 lbs

• Own a toolbox and basic mechanics hand tools up to 1 1/2"

• Familiarity with air tools (shop has 3/4" & 1" if needed)

Work Environment

The work environment is a diesel shop with one side featuring 8-10 service bays and the other side having a quick oil change lane. We have a team of 15 mechanics working across two shifts. The first shift runs from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (flexible if different hours are needed), and the second shift runs from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The immediate opening is for the second shift, but we are open to accommodating the first shift if required by the candidate.
