The role you’ll contribute: The Neuroscience Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing/medical inpatient/outpatient services of Adventhealth within the scope of practice of licensure and as outlined in the Collaborative Practice Agreement and is responsible for eliciting patient histories and conducting comprehensive evaluations. Clinical management of neurosurgical and neurological patients in the ICU, particularly invasive hemodynamic and intra-ventricular monitoring - which includes drainage of cerebral spinal fluid from the brain. Clinical management and knowledge of the AHA Stroke Management Patient Care Guidelines. Adheres to Adventhealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

· Demonstrates complex assessment skills: formulates an individualized treatment plan based on therapeutic principles as appropriate for age/ psychological development, initiates and/or maintains diagnostic/treatment regimes, interprets common laboratory, electrographic and radiologic findings and intervenes appropriately based on specific principles, evaluates the effectiveness of nursing/medical interventions in accomplishing desired patient outcomes, evaluates / provides /facilitates appropriate education for patients and families according to individual learning needs, evaluates and provides for patient discharge needs with specific recommendations for follow up in the outpatient setting and recognizes and provides immediate appropriate responses to life threatening emergencies.

· Communicates effectively with physicians, management, staff, patients and families to ensure coordinated and cohesive execution of quality patient care in a timely manner

· Completes patient related/ educational assignments efficiently: demonstrates good organizational skills in planning/ implementing daily activities, demonstrates responsibility in cost effective use of hospital /patient supplies, equipment and resources, and facilitates early discharge of patients in clinical area of specialization.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

· Master’s degree in Nursing

· Current advanced practice registration with Florida State Board of Nursing

· Experience with intra-ventricular device monitoring, drainage, and management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED :

· Experience with endovascular patient management

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

· Current, valid State of Florida Board of Nursing Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license

· Prescriptive authority for the State of Florida

· Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required by area of practice

· National Nurse Practitioner certification by either:

o the American Nurses Credentialing Center (http://www.nursecredentialing.org/) (ANCC) or

o the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (http://www.aanp.org/aanpcms2) (AANP), unless grandfathered under certificate-based program
