Overview:

The Region Chief Medical Officer is a key senior management position responsible for providing leadership, management, and strategic direction to ensure the delivery of high quality, cost-effective health care consistent with the mission of CommonSpirit Health to better meet the needs of the community. The Mountain Region Chief Medical Officer works to improve clinical performance, oversee conversion to evidence-based medicine, head up safety initiatives and direct quality assurance for the Mountain Region and in collaboration with Medical Group. The Region CMO will oversee physician credentialing and privileging, evaluate and manage physician performance to optimize quality of care to our patients and serve as a liaison between the physicians, administration and community organizations. The CMO provides on-going counsel and advice to the market and facility CMOs, Medical Directors, and other elected medical staff officers on physician matters. The Region CMO assures compliance with corporate policies, by laws and mission statement of the organization and assure medical staff efforts meet or exceed standards of the various accrediting and approving bodies. The Region CMO will work closely with his/her counterparts within CommonSpirit. The Region CMO will work collaboratively with the Leadership Team in all aspects of region affairs and is accountable for the clinical excellence of medical care through the development, implementation and evaluation of the Mountain Region clinical effectiveness process that requires the integration of provider staff, Mountain Region management, and employees in collaborative working relationships.

Job duties require considerable knowledge of the specialized principles and practices related to health care management to evaluate and make viable recommendations for the improving health care delivery system(s) and enhancing organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Also requires considerable leadership expertise relating to business planning, process improvement, budget administration and personnel management. Performance improvement efforts cover a variety of processes, and an incumbent must be sufficiently knowledgeable to recognize important synergies and opportunities in clinical outcomes, cost containment, patient safety/satisfaction and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

Minimum qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree with Board Certification in a medical or surgical specialty

  • Successful clinical practice experience with a minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in a multi-hospital system, integrated delivery network as CMO or VP Medical Affairs

  • License to practice medicine, full and unrestricted

Preferred qualifications:

  • Management degree (MBA, MHA or similar)

  • Employed physician group experience

Physical requirements:

  • Sedentary work - prolonged periods of sitting and exert up to 10 lbs. force occasionally

$466,302 - $543,997annually
