JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Part-Time Career Specialist provides career guidance and support to students at Penn State Lehigh Valley Campus. This role involves helping students identify their career goals, develop job and internship search strategies, and connect with internship opportunities. The Career Specialist will work closely with students, faculty, and employers to enhance career development services and contribute to the overall success of the Advising, Career and Student Success Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group career counseling to students

  • Assist students with career assessments, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation

  • Plan and facilitate career development workshops, seminars, and networking events.

  • Coordinate with faculty, staff and employers to organize career fairs, recruitment events, and industry panels.

  • Build and maintain relationships with employers and industry professionals.

  • Develop and promote internship and job placement opportunities for students.

  • Resource Development:

  • Create and maintain career resources, including job boards, career guides, and informational materials.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and labor market information to provide relevant advice.

  • Maintain accurate records of career counseling sessions and student interactions through Nittany careers.

  • Prepare reports on career services usage and effectiveness.

  • Guide graduate school applications and career planning.

  • Offer support for special populations, including international students, veterans, and those with disabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Career Counseling, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

  • Previous experience in career counseling, coaching, or a related role is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of career development theories and job market trends.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
