The job would be listed in the CBA under classification as "General Helper." Despite being a feeder opportunity position, the General Helper position is not part of any other progression. The position would observe and assist higher classified employees in the job duties of the disciplines listed above, including but not limited to, inspecting, testing, installing, removing, repairing, operating, and maintaining equipment in any of the disciplines listed above. The General Helper is expected to learn to interpret construction drawings and prints, observe safety practices, understand work procedures and construction and maintenance standards, and perform and demonstrate applicable job duties, provided the Helper meets any required qualifications, as instructed by qualified higher classified employees and at the direction of management. The purpose of the position is to introduce employees to working in Electric Utilities and provide an opportunity to increase their likelihood of success in meeting the qualifications for apprenticeships. General Helpers may bid on a new job at any anytime to maximize their opportunity to obtain a position.
