Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Bioinformatician II to join our team! In this role you will get to leverage your skills in support of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Tuberculosis elimination mission.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Aid development, evaluation, implementation and maintenance of bioinformatic pipelines and tools for bioinformatic analysis of whole genome and targeted Mycobacterium tuberculosis sequencing and scientific data.

  • Assist with development of standard operating procedures for bioinformatics analyses, training materials and related documentation.

  • Assist with preparing and delivering clear, concise, and accurate sample analysis and bioinformatics reports, presentations, and scientific manuscripts.

  • Assist with containerizing bioinformatic pipelines (Docker, Singularity) and creating workflows (WDL, Nextflow) to implement at CDC cloud computing environments (Azure, AWS).

  • Support surveillance activities including the maintenance, development, and support of the National TB Surveillance System, the National TB Indicators Project, the TB Genotyping Information Management System, and the National Tuberculosis Latent Infection Sentinel Surveillance.

  • Support data management, analysis, analytic tools and creation and maintenance of SQL databases and data queries and analyses.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • At least 12 years of combined higher education and experience

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and Perl and SQL databases

  • Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and databases

  • Knowledge of cloud computing environments such as AWS or Azure

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker or Singularity

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Experience working with CDC

  • Experience working with Tuberculosis

  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and data visualization techniques

  • Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis

Salary Range:

$117,000.00 - $210,600.00
