CIMA Network Apprentice Sign Mechanic in Chalfont, Pennsylvania

This employer will be on-site conducting interviews at our Multi-Industry Job Fair which will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Upper Bucks County Technical School, 3115 Ridge Rd., Perkasie, PA  18944.  The Job Fair hours are 2:15 PM -- 4:00 PM.  For more information on the Multi-Industry Job Fair, please contact Regina Labor at c-rlabor@buckscounty.org.

As an Apprentice, you will join a supportive team that will help you begin to understand how to plan for quality, well lit, serviceable and shippable signs. You will develop and increase your skills in welding, basic electrical wiring and wood carpentry.  You will be assisting in the manufacturing of various sign types. (pylon signs, wall signs, channel letter, awnings, etc.). You will be responsible for assisting in the warehouse in the production preparation and clean-up of client specific signage and environmental branding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cutting parts with power tools.
  • Measures properly
  • Basic wiring.
  • Minor prep ability.
  • Minor production assembly.
  • Cut clean miters.
  • Complete assembly and wiring of channel letters.
  • Basic welding.
  • Build wood shipping crates.
  • Maintains and documents material.
  • Learn to maintain and document time worked on timesheet to allocate to the proper work order or indirect labor code.
  • Learn to read and understand prints.
  • May operate forklift.
  • Keeps warehouse clean by sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some understanding of the Sign Industry preferred.
  • Some knowledge of logistics and serviceability.
  • Some welding experience preferred.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure situations.
  • Work in fast pace environment.
  • Ability to take written and oral direction.
  • Must be able to multitask and stay organized.
  • Must be able to work in team environment.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of what an employee might encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Typical shop conditions: generally protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles, you may be working with saws, welding equipment, or grinders.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; work with their hands handle, or feel, whether directly manipulating components or using controls on an assembly machine.  Employee must be able to talk or hear over shop noise.  Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time at worktables.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 to 75 pounds and move it for at least 50 feet.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
