Summary: As a member of the Martin's Family, The Sales Manager  is responsible for help ing Martin’s become the supplier/provider of choice within their sales area, continuing to progress the sales through route coaching, store selling, chain store buyer relationships, and institutional selling. The Sales Manager  is a professional who has a command over the technical details of sales, who can provide leadership to all area sales representatives, who can analyze new and evolving situations, who can communicate technical data to others in a simple and clear manner and who is able to build relationships both internally and externally and who acts as an ambassador for Martin’s.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Staffs, trains, and develops sales employees.

  • Analyzes sales statistics to assist route salespersons and distributors in growing sales.

  • Meets with key clients , assisting sales team with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.

  • Develops and implements local sales plans to accommodate corporate goals.

  • Monitors sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.

  • Monitors daily records of sales or deliveries.

  • Performs any and all duties of route sales person , warehouse load coordinators, or distributors in their absence.

  • Reviews market analyses to influence customer needs, price schedules, and maximize sales.

  • Assist with finding new distributors for open territories and training new distributors according to Company standards.

  • Maintains buyer contact with chain stores and independent store groups.

  • Prepares and manages promotional schedule for area .

  • Reviews sales orders to maximize sales.

  • Encourages the use of sales and merchandising techniques with employees and existing distributors.

  • Works with sales teams on proper display, point of purchase and off shelf locations for Company.

  • Assists distributors and route salespersons with new store start up, rack installations, and product support.

  • Performs market checks for proper product quantity, mix, codes, display and back stock pack out.

  • Attends assigned store resets.

  • Attends store grand openings.

  • Works chain and independent store sampling events.

  • Handles issues impacting product delivery.

  • Learns and champions Martin’s technology.

  • Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.

  • Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.

  • Listens to and resolves service complaints.

  • Maintains local fleet for preventive maintenance and cleanliness.

  • Manages product storage facility.

  • Supports other Sales Managers on a daily basis .

  • Adheres to safety, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Directly supervises employees and supports distributors in assigned area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED;

  • Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University;

  • Three years supervisor y experience;

  • Two years’ related experience and/or training; or

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Computer Skills:

  • Proficient to advance in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suites and Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to easily learn new technologies.

  • Experience in SharePoint preferred.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current, valid driver's license.

  • Current, valid DOT Medical Card or ability to pass DOT physical examination.

    Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able and willing to work flexible schedule to include Sundays and Wednesdays and be on-call 24-7.

  • Ability to travel-approx. 20% overnight travel, 80% day travel within sales area.

  • Must possess or be able to pass a DOT physical if needed.
