Eagle Mine Lundin Mining Health & Safety Advisor in Champion, Michigan

General Description: The Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for supporting Mine site and Mill site leadership with developing and sustaining a safe, secure and healthful workplace for all employees and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provides technical guidance, training development, implementation and support to employees and contractors on Eagle Health and Safety Standards as well as state and federal regulations to ensure compliance and minimize risk.

· Supervises operational MSHA compliance activities - serves as the key field liaison for H&S regulators

· Participate in Mine Rescue.

· Manages inventory, inspection and disposal of self-contained self rescuers

· Responsible for servicing of refuge chambers and associated systems

· Participates in and leads incident reporting and investigation processes

· Reporting, data review, and interpretation as required

· Conducts surveys, studies, and audits to identify conditions affecting compliance with Federal Regulations concerning employee health and safety

· Coordinates inspection and audit programs and provides direction and guidance in the closure of findings along with development and execution of corrective actions in a timely and effective manner so that re-occurrence is avoided

· Assists with occupational health and industrial hygiene activities

· Assists and supports transportation safety management and DOT compliance

· Manages health, safety and emergency services to accepted standards of practice

· Provides support and assists with managing and resolving emergency situations

· Performs other duties as assigned

Education, qualifications and experience:

· Two (2) year degree (AS) in occupational health and safety or other relevant field preferred

· Mining experience preferred

· Working knowledge of U.S. federal and state compliance regulations (e.g. MSHA, OSHA) preferred

· Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license required

· Basic skills in use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required

· Experienced in training development and delivery; MSHA blue card certified training certification preferred

· Technical document and report writing skills preferred

· CSP, CIH or CMSP certification desirable
