ManTech Chief Engineer in Chantilly, Virginia

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career, and customer-orientated Chief Engineer with in-depth knowledge of Systems Engineering and Cyber security to join our team in Chantilly, VA. The Chief Engineer will be the lead technology innovator and designer for the DoD customer. They shall work with security, networking, and systems team leads to integrate new capabilities and ensure a secure, reliable environment which meets customer’s needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implement and conduct Cybersecurity engineering activities in accordance with the organization's relevant approved processes, technical operations, and strategic vision.

  • Security considerations of cloud computing, including data breaches, hacking, account hijacking, malicious insiders, third parties, authentication, APTs, data loss and DoS attack.

  • Providing IT Systems, Applications, and Cyber security Engineering and architectural support for a large, distributed IT infrastructure.

  • Recommend new architectural paths and solutions for securing, modernizing, and maintaining IT Infrastructure using latest technologies and innovations.

  • Thorough understanding of relevant industry security standards and protocols including ISO27001 and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies.

  • Ensuring that the organization’s data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate Cyber security controls.

  • Leverages multiple security and other specialties to address all feasible solutions to deliver a trustworthy secure system.

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain automation of cloud enablement tools.

  • Providing IT Systems and Applications Engineering and architectural support for a large, distributed IT infrastructure.

  • Recommend new architectural paths and solutions for modernizing and maintaining IT Infrastructure using latest technologies and innovations.

  • Beta testing new capabilities when directed and conducting software testing as required.

  • Maintaining a robust library of documentation for architectural designs for the network and systems.

  • Working with all stakeholders to ensure complete and functioning systems that meet all requirements.

  • Effectively choose the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of the security engineering products.

  • Solutions include developing full ITIL Service Design Packages, including documenting requirements, creating SLAs, developing Capacity Management plans, IT Service Continuity Plans, and other areas composing ITIL service design.

  • Writing implementation and design documents describing how security features are implemented.

  • Participating in a Change Management processes.

  • Performing requirements analysis, design, and integration for complex software application environments and collaboration infrastructures.

  • Providing direction and guidance to less experienced Network and Systems engineers.

  • Responsibility for investigating and resolving operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel.

  • Providing IT Systems Engineering support on a wide range of technologies, including: Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, Oracle databases, Microsoft SQL Server, Service Now, Altiris, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Adobe Acrobat, HBSS, Splunk, customer line-of-business applications, VMware vCenter, Horizon View, Site Recovery Manager, HPAC Secure Printing, HP Blade Servers, HP SANs, Certificate Services, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policies and Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.

  • Other tasks may include requirements specification, performance modeling, end-to-end functional analysis, cost estimation, and joint application design.

  • Working on project teams responsible for engineering and packaging releases to integrate within the customer's production IT environment.

  • Participate in technology evaluation and reengineering teams to support strategy-definition and continuous process improvement activities.

  • Recognize and resolve all business issues and impact.

  • Adhere to firm Change Management, Problem Management policies and familiarity with ITIL or other formalized IT operations foundations.

  • Participating in processes throughout all phases of ITIL Service Lifecycle, including submitting Change Requests.

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 7+ years of relevant IT experience

  • 5+ years working with cloud platforms.

  • 5+ years of experience as an enterprise systems administrator in a client or server environment, including deployment automation tools.

  • 8570 Certification required (IAT Level II required / IAT Level III desired)

  • Extensive knowledge of Windows based systems including Hardware, software, networking, and storage

  • Proficiency in PowerShell and/or other scripting languages

  • Willingness to work after normal duty hours (nights and weekends) as needed.

  • Applicant must have a strong understanding of network technologies to include Routing, QOS, Multicast, VPN, Encryption techniques, Virtual networking, VLANs.

  • Basic understand of/and experience operating in cloud or virtual platforms such as Hyper-V or VMware

  • Core Networking (DMVPN), MPLS, Dynamic Routing Protocols)

  • Windows Services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, SharePoint)

  • Virtualization (VMware vSphere, NSX, Cloud Foundations)

Preferred qualifications:

  • ITIL v4.0 or Foundation Certifications highly desired

  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, VMware VCP7 – CMA are highly desired.

  • CISSP

  • Experience with Type-1 encryptors (Taclanes)

  • Experience with 802.1x

  • Quality of Service (QOS)

  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

  • Multifactor Authentication (MFA using smartcards)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time.

  • Must be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery

  • Must be able to position self to maintain office supplies on variable height shelving.

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.

  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

  • Must be able to observe and detect employee deviations from established policy.

Security Clearance requirements:

Active TS with SCI clearance adjudicated within the past 6 years. Candidate must be open to poly.
