Job Description
Primary Responsibilities: The Manager, Data Engineer is primarily responsible for leading our data engineering team. This role is pivotal in managing project timelines, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring alignment with our business objectives. The ideal candidate will prosses strong leadership and project management skills along with a deep understanding of data engineering principles and technologies.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in data engineering with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Skills:
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of data engineers. People management experience.
Project Management: Strong skills in managing timelines, resources, and deliverables.
Strategic Planning: Ability to align data engineering projects with business objectives.
Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of data architecture, ETL processes, and big data processing. Proficiency in AWS, Azure, GCP, and/or Databricks.
Cloud Platforms: Proficiency in AWS services (S3, SageMaker, Redshift, EMR), Azure, and Databricks.
Technical Skills:
Data Architecture: Experience in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions.
Cloud Platforms: Proficiency in AWS services (S3, SageMaker, Redshift, EMR) or similar services like Azure, and Databricks.
Big Data Technologies: Hands-on experience with similar tools like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
Data Warehousing: Familiarity with tools like Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake, and Databricks.
ETL Tools: Experience with tools like Airflow, Informatica, and Talend.
Databases: Proficiency in SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python, Java, and SQL.
DevOps Tools: Familiarity with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Terraform.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Data Engineering or Solutions Architect Expert.
Familiarity with Git.
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Knowledge of data governance and security best practices in AWS.
Essential Job Functions:
Typical Day Activities:
Build and optimize data pipelines, logic, and storage systems with the latest coding practices and industry standards.
Develop high-quality, well-documented, and efficient code adhering to all applicable standards.
Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and architects to enhance data acquisition, transformation, and organization processes.
Write unit, integration tests, and functional automation; develop solutions to address problems discovered by quality assurance.
Research emerging data technology applications and integration frameworks to continuously improve the data engineering practices.
Other duties, as assigned by supervisor or leadership team.
Key Metrics & Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Oversee and manage a team of data engineers, ensuring effective collaboration and productivity. Provide leadership support for engineers, including mentoring, team building, and coaching.
Project Management: Manage project timelines, scope, estimate, and schedule project work. Coordinate between departments to ensure successful project delivery.
Technical Guidance: Design and architect scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions. Guide the technical direction of the team, ensuring adherence to best practices.
Data Solutions Development: Build and maintain enterprise data products including data ingestion, storage, organization, and cloud data products. Implement and maintain ETL processes to ensure accurate and timely data flow.
Infrastructure Management: Automate and manage infrastructure and deployments to ensure reliability and scalability through DevOps practices.
Data Governance: Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with relevant regulations through effective data governance practices. Build governance framework for cloud data storage and usage for enterprise data warehouse.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate on cross-functional agile teams that include Software Engineers, Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Data Analysts, DevOps Engineers, and Product Owners to implement the next generation of enterprise applications.
Technology Leadership: Provide technology leadership to development teams and other leaders. Participate in architectural discussions, iteration planning, and feature sizing meetings. Stay abreast of Analytics technology trends and industry best practices.
