Job Summary

Charles River Labs Microbial Solutions team located in Charleston South Carolina is seeking a Product Engineer.

The Product Engineer is responsible for supporting existing business needs by developing new and improved processes, operational concepts, and product performance. This position will provide technical assistance escalation and support to the Operations, Production, and Development departments as necessary.

Essential Duties AND Responsibilities

• Investigate product complaints, perform root cause analysis of failures, and suggest remediation.

• Review existing product designs for weakness and propose achievable improvements.

• Analyze electrical designs and mechanical components.

• Build early concepts of corrective designs and create verification strategy.

• Experience with root cause investigations and Corrective Actions.

• Software methodology for testing purposes.

• Basic knowledge of Circuit board level design capabilities

• Computer programming to streamline outputs.

• Electrical component/circuitry root cause analysis.

• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Experience

• 5+ years experience in product engineering preferred.

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes.

• Experience in new product development, introduction processes and procurement protocols.

• PLM software for control of Engineering changes and implementation.

• Knowledge of CAD program(Creo) is a plus.

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Must be motivated and creative, work well under pressure and operate effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate needs and demands in an effective manner with all seniority levels.

• Contribute to risk management through FMEA.

• Apply Design of Experiments as a method to understand problems.

• Ability to work with suppliers on root cause, troubleshooting, resource management.

• Must be detail oriented, focused and able to produce accurate and professional documents.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $74-83K annually. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, and location.
