Job Summary

  • Procure equipment, materials and services for assigned areas requiring specialized product knowledge or interpretation of technical requests. Contact vendor(s) to obtain equipment, supplies, and materials at the lowest competitive cost for product and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtain critical materials and components, equipment and services through interviewing and/or visit vendors to ensure supplier is qualified.

  • Review, interpret, and verify purchase order requests.

  • Verify quantity, anticipated costs and practical application of supplies/materials requested.

  • Research sources, solicit bids, and compare areas of quality, cost, delivery and warranty/guarantee policies.

  • Commit company funds to vendors and expedite orders/shipment/delivery, updating end-user as necessary.

  • Establish and maintain automated purchase inventory files and records.

  • Authorize payment to vendor and establish adjustments as required.

  • Partner with QA department to perform supplier audits.

  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

  • Support the timely resolution of supplier and material issues through familiarization with manufacturing processes and product / material specification requirements.

  • Participate in project and continuous improvement initiatives such as weekly GEMBA walks and product design changes.

  • Work with Manufacturing, Technical Operations, Product Managers and R&D on product performance improvement initiatives and new product introductions

  • Review Supplier Agreements and understand product components (i.e. Raw Materials, Accessories, Hardware components, etc.) to ensure agreements are appropriate for business, legal and quality requirements as defined

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in Business Administration or related discipline.

  • Experience: Six or more years related experience and/or training.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

  • Certification/Licensure: Certified Purchasing Manager or Certified Professional in Supply Management preferred.

  • Other: Experience with SAP and SciQuest preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Must regularly operate a computer and occasionally operate other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

  • Must regularly communicate with employees/customers; must be able to exchange accurate information.

  • Must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Work Environment

  • General office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Comments

  • This position requires occasional domestic/international travel.

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $65,000/yr. - $90,000/yr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
