Crane 1 Services, Inc. Inspection Technician in Charleston, West Virginia

Crane Inspection Technicians are advocates for a safety-first environment, minimizing customer downtime, and meeting OSHA requirements. As an Inspector, you understand industrial maintenance and are responsible for performing routine inspections, repairs, and upgrades on overhead material handling equipment.

Inspection Technician Role & Responsibilities

  • Performs documented OSHA monthly and annual hoist and crane inspections.

  • Understand and manage equipment data (serial numbers, model numbers, and important identifiers) which helps quote repairs and order replacement parts.

  • Test and evaluate the mechanical and electrical operation.

  • Controllers, tips, contractors, relays, boards, and wiring.

  • Structure of the crane (handrail, cabs, girders, end trucks, and electrical boards).

  • Clean, maintain and adjust crane hoisting mechanisms as well as other parts and features of the overhead crane.

  • Inspect gearbox levels, motors, cables, gears, couplings, wheels, bridge/hoist brakes.

  • Repair and replace defective parts and equipment as needed.

  • Discuss immediate safety and performance issues with the customer.

  • Document findings and make consultative recommendations regarding the repair and safety-related concerns to the customer for the inspected equipment.

  • Provide proper checklists and required forms with customer signatures for all inspections or service-related documentation.

  • Working at heights & some heavy lifting.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Inspection Technician Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE: A minimum of (2) years of industrial electrical and mechanical experience (NCCCO Certification preferred), or related background, or a combination of education and experience that illustrates a proven track record in this field is preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Thorough knowledge of electrical theory for power and controls.

  • Thorough knowledge of the mechanical systems of cranes/hoists.

  • Thorough knowledge of simple structural elements

  • Understanding of the OSHA/ANSI standard (required)

  • Position requires 8 to 12-hour shift work, which can include Saturdays and Sundays.
