The Role

The Director of Data Platform Development will be responsible for delivery and lifecycle support of the core infrastructure supporting this highly strategic Lumen program. This platform will support future data warehouse consolidation and integration efforts as well as become the enabler for vital business, customer, network, financial, and broader performance and intelligence. This platform could become one of the largest differentiators for Lumen once Global Network, Service, Customer, and broader datasets are collected for realtime understanding to drive critical business outcomes. As a strategic and tactical leader, this role will impact multiple, technically complex, mission-critical, and/or high-profile initiatives simultaneously and must possess executive leadership in combination with an extensive deep technical understanding of Data Architecture, Big Data, Data Governance, Data Engineering, and overall Integration Design. Will direct a large team as well as lead the coordination of the activities of multiple departments and large programs with responsibility of the long-term roadmap, metrics definition, and results; including costs, methods, staffing, and introduction of strategic platforms.

The Main Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, direction, motivation, and supervision of direct and indirect reports to include development of productive and efficient goals, reviewing performance and providing feedback and coaching as well as developing individuals.

• Responsible and accountable for getting the requirements from business owners, filling in the gaps where the requirements are missing or not clear.

• Working with architecture and end-to-end systems engineering to arrive at a solution that is fully compatible with architecture goals and existing system.

• Work with release planning and project management to put together a fully staffed, funded, and complete software development plan.

• Demonstrating ability to recruit and lead highly functional technical teams.

• Augment development staff from Lumen India and external partners where needed.

• Evaluate and adopt appropriate open source and commercial applications where appropriate.

• Manage day-to-day software development teams and anticipate and unblock any roadblocks that might come up.

• Leverage and apply Agile and DevOps principles to include continuous integration and continuous delivery so that all automatic unit testing, code review, and security check are done prior to code commit and automatic build verification and regression testing are done post commit.

What We Look For in a Candidate

• BS Degree and 10+ years of architecture experience with data integration and data warehousing; 3+ years of data platform architecture. MS or higher degree preferred.

• Current experience building & operating large-scale

• 3-5 years hands-on experience with building solutions with Hadoop MapReduce and/or Spark, Streaming systems (Spark streaming, Apache Flink, Kafka).

• Experience with continuous integration, test-driven/behavior-driven development, and agile, scrum development methodologies.

• Experience working in an Agile development methodology in Data Warehouse environments.

• Experience with managed services and on-shore / off-shore development

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

$150380 - $200500 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.

$158290 - $211050 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.

$166210 - $221610 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.

$174120 - $232160 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
