Experience with reviewing health care agreements is preferred as responsibilities may include review of professional service agreements, medical director agreements and clinical affiliation agreements.
Attorney in the Office of General Counsel (OGC) of Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) with responsibility for review of contracts submitted and managed by BILH's contract management system at the enterprise level. Participates in the BILH and department level contract review activities. The OGC enables BILH to meet its strategic and operational goals by ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:
1.Review and provide legal counsel on contracts submitted to BILH's contract management system. (essential)
Work with colleagues in the OGC and Compliance and ensure compliance with BILH's Contract Management policy. (essential)
Draft, review, revise and negotiate general and sophisticated commercial and health care agreements, including IT, licensing, services, consulting, supply, confidentiality, pharmacy, research, and data-related agreements as well as addenda/amendments and statements of work. (essential)
Provide legal support across the organization, including quickly and effectively identifying complex legal issues raised by other business units, researching new legal issues, and providing advice in a manner that integrates legal risk management with BILH's objectives. (essential)
Develop and maintain strong business relationships across BILH and contribute to cross-functional or departmental projects and teams. (essential)
Assist with the development of policies and procedures and standard template language to be used in contracts. (essential)
Assist the OGC and Compliance teams with a variety of legal matters, including general corporate, compliance, research, regulatory and other legal matters relevant to BILH's operations. (essential)
Support the organization in maintaining work environment focused on quality and that fosters learning, respect, open communication, collaboration, integration and teamwork. (essential)
Other duties as assigned consistent with experienced contract attorney. (essential)
Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Juris Doctor required.
Hold a current license to practice law and be in good standing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
3-5 years related work experience required in legal contract review across large organization.
Significant experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating general commercial agreements, including licensing, services, IT, consulting, and data-related agreements is required, and experience with complex licensing and services agreements is preferred. Some experience with health care and research contracts required. Strong legal research and analytical skills required.
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Team Work: Ability to work collaboratively in small teams to improve the operations of immediate work group by offering ideas, identifying issues, and respecting team members.
Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.
Social/Environmental Requirements:
Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.
Work is varied every day and the employee needs to be adaptable to respond to these changes and use independent judgment and manage priorities.
