Supervises personnel matters within the Maintenance Department. Assigns and checks work, establishes schedules, sets deadlines, and delegates authority. Sets performance standards for lead staff. Prepares annual performance evaluations. Makes personnel related recommendations to the General Curator. 2. Ensures all Maintenance personnel are properly trained and equipped for their assigned tasks, and conducts or arranges for training as necessary to carry out the Departments objectives. 3. Ensures the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical and Life Support Systems (LSS). Maintains current knowledge of the design and proper operation of the mechanical and LSS. Maintains a schedule for LSS rounds and mechanical checks. 4. Serves on the Safety Committee and ensures compliance with OSHA standards throughout building and grounds. 5. Ensures the proactive and preventive maintenance, repair, and overhaul of major physical plant and equipment. 6. Serves as the lead for matters related to the Parks operating agreements and risk management as it relates to the physical plant and grounds. 7. Drafts annual proactive maintenance plan. 8. Assists in ensuring that the Parks policies relating to physical infrastructure and building operations are accurate, current, and in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Reviews and updates policies as laws change. 9. Ensures that facilities are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. 10. Administers non-animal related permits. Directs the preparation and amendments to required permits, as assigned. 11. Manages all aspects of construction and remodeling projects. 12. Demonstrates an excellent working knowledge of blue-line prints, technical specification, and written repair/maintenance procedures with minimum supervision. 13. Participates in meetings or public presentations as assigned. 14. Keeps proper records in accordance with Coral World (V.I.), Inc. policies and permits. 15. Maintains valid drivers license. 16. Fosters good relations with visitors, volunteers, community leaders, contractors, and fellow staff members by promoting positive attitudes, good will, cooperation, and providing high standards of service. 17. Complies with all Coral World (V.I.), Inc. policies, procedures, and programs. 18. Performs other related duties as assigned.
