Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide procedural information about Graduate School, English Graduate Program, and English Undergraduate Programs in a positive and professional manner.

  • Stay abreast of policies and procedures within the English Department by meeting with supervisor and program directors on a routine basis as well as taking initiative to seek out information through written departmental information and college/university policies and procedures.

  • Enter detailed information for each semester’s course offerings into Banner Production Forms (Internet Native Banner), and routinely access Banner for information to make numerous requested revisions to course schedules.

  • Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google on a daily basis to assist with the graduate program needs: test scores from MA exams, create interactive forms for M.A. exams, and assist with incoming graduate student information.

  • Assist faculty with special projects such as revising department brochures, flyers, and other related projects.

  • Prepare Course Evaluations which involve the following: compiling materials for the evaluation process, distributing course evaluation materials to faculty, reminding faculty to complete the evaluation process and have students return forms, and processing evaluations at the end of the semester.

  • Process budget-related matters such as travel and PCard transactions, FTRs, Perceptive Content, 49er Mart, Banner Production, Report Central, and Banner Eprint.

  • Recommend and implement procedural changes to improve quality of service information/guidelines provided to graduate students to prevent potential problems and improve the efficiency of the day-to-day operation of the English department programs.

Minimum Experience / Education:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school, or completion of its equivalency, and three years of office/clerical work experience; or an equivalent combination of training/experience.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a similar discipline is preferred.

  • Experience working in Higher Education is desired.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel) and G-Suite software is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Banner, Report Central, 49er Mart, NORM , P-Card, or similar University systems is desired.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are preferred.

  • Experience with problem solving and resourcefulness are a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail is essential.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and organize time efficiently is strongly desired.
