Savage Assistant Operations Manager in Charlotte, North Carolina

Savage is looking for Team Member who is responsible for assisting with the leadership of a specialized team in planning, organizing and managing day to day operations. Ensuring transloading our customer’s product from a rail car to tractor trailer is done in a safe, environmentally friendly, and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hazardous and non-hazardous liquid and dry bulk material transfers from rail to truck, conduct inbound and outbound railcar inspections with safety in a safe manner

  • Professional interaction and collaboration with other Savage Team Members and customers

  • Assist with maintenance, clean-up, and other duties as assigned

  • Participation in safety training programs, which may require brief and occasional travel

  • Assist in oversight of both plant and office functions; management support of a team of 15 team members

    Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge with (preferred but not required):

  • Managing a safety program

  • Transloading

  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision

  • Proficient in Microsoft office

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal requirements

    Education/Experience

  • College degree preferred

  • Management experience is a plus

  • 2+ years of management/supervisory experience preferred

    Physical Requirements

  • Commitment to working safely at all times

  • Ability to be exposed to the outdoor elements

  • Must be physically able to do the following:

  • Climb on and off rail-cars and locomotives safely

  • Operate rail-car hand brakes

  • Operate rail switches

  • Walk long distances

  • Consistently bend, stoop kneel and climb on elevated surfaces

  • Work, walk, and stand on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of time

  • Lift up to 75 lbs consistently throughout the course of a shift

  • Operate basic hand tools

  • Wear required PPE
