Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department Electrical and Computer Engineering ( ECE ) has three tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor positions starting in Spring 2025 (positions #004399, #004361, and position #001808). Candidates with expertise in all areas of electrical and computer engineering will be considered, with particular emphasis on (1) Electronic circuits, devices, and systems: integrated circuit design, microelectronics, semiconductor device engineering/fabrication for next-generation computing applications such as quantum computing and neuromorphic computing, (2) Robotics and Controls: large-scale systems, distributed and decentralized decision-making, multi-agent learning and coordination, safe and resilient control, networked robotics, and (3) Computer systems: hardware-software co-design, systems for machine learning applications, cloud and edge computing, embedded systems, systems software, and other systems design aspects that enable real-world AI applications. Candidates with collaborative research focus are encouraged, especially related to smart and sustainable cities, transformational energy systems, transportation and advanced mobility, or digital manufacturing.

Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, development of high-impact sponsored research programs, supervision of student research, student mentoring, and academic services. Priority will be given to candidates having original and promising research as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, potential for success in extramural funding, and a plan for future research that integrates well with existing and aspirational department strengths. Hires at the rank of an Associate Professor are also expected to have demonstrated success in receiving extramural research funding, supervising/mentoring of graduate students, and teaching.

Minimum Experience / Education:

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

A Ph.D. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field is required by the time of contract.
