Detailed Description

Perform debt profile analysis and modeling related to clients and prospects of the Public Finance group, using DBC, IPREO, DIVER, Excel, and other analytical software such as Bloomberg, TM3 or proprietary models. Build, improve, refine and instruct use of financial models utilized by the public finance team to identify and pursue refunding, cash optimization and tender opportunities while using industry resources such as MSRB EMMA and Bloomberg to provide sophisticated numerical analysis to clients and prospects. Identify and develop advanced Excel models and PowerPoint templates for the team’s use, including a Monte Carlo simulation and Bond sizer incorporating Turbo Bonds. Research capital needs, financial structures and economic data utilizing that information to populate charts, graphs and other analytics for Local Government, Higher Ed, Development and other municipal related clients. Perform or oversee preliminary indicative Credit Rating evaluation using Rating Criteria established by Agencies such as Moody’s/S&P/Fitch to analyze debt capacity and issuance impact on credit quality. Conduct preliminary bond insurance need determination, taking into consideration the costs, risks and benefits associated with pricing the bonds with and without insurance, and assesses industry and financial market trends by establishing and performing data queries and assessing collected data. Train and mentor junior analysts and associates. Provide support to the team’s bankers and own client coverage by drafting request for proposal (RFP) responses, developing pitch books and other marketing and sales materials, and providing financial analyses with a focus on client goals and expectations. Coordinate with financial advisors, issuers, attorneys, and other professionals ensuring a timely bond closing for ongoing transactions while maintaining the deal file, reviewing and commenting on financial documents, and structuring or supervising the structuring of debt using financial modeling software. Attend and participate in client meetings and conferences to develop and manage client and industry relationships. Provide Public Finance transaction management, including developing and analyzing debt models, financial structuring and analysis, scheduling issue sales and handling details from origination through closing of large and complex bond and/or note sales. Advise officials of municipal related entities on financing strategies; prepare and present new business proposals and comprehensive financial plans; and prepare memorandums describing innovative and customized financing ideas and opportunities and case studies on completed transactions. Collaborate with underwriting, trading and sales team and provide precise bond pricing, debt service schedules and background information on bond features from kick-off of bond sale through settlement process.

Job Requirements

Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field plus two years of financial analysis experience in Public Finance/Investment Banking/Underwriting. Experience must include application of debt structuring software including DBC and interpretation of Debt Structuring Reports, the municipal market monitor (TM3), Bloomberg data service, EMMA, TM3, IPREO, and DIVER. Series 52 and 63 licensure, or other necessary combination required. Hybrid work schedule available.
