About the role:

The Director, Global Change and Release Management (C&RM) for General Insurance (GI) is primarily accountable for ensuring that all application releases for GI business partners are of the highest possible quality for the business and the lowest possible risk for AIG. This is accomplished by leading a group of small teams positioned around the world to support GI regional business and IT partners through execution of the Permit to Operate or P2O framework. The P2O framework is itself composed of a set of distinct processes owned by different SME teams at AIG. This position also involves regular engagement with both internal and external auditors as P2O is a key control for multiple global audits.

In addition to owning the P2O framework and being accountable for its execution worldwide, the GI Global Head for C&RM also provides leadership to several teams that are accountable for the delivery of several processes and supporting processes in the P2O framework for a subset of applications in two regions. This includes two Delivery Quality or DQ teams providing QA testing for approximately 200 BAU applications in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region as well as the North America (NAM) region. There is also a middleware (MW) team in EMEA called the EMEA CM team supporting manual code deployments and other environment support activities as well as providing BAU support for DevOps pipelines used to deploy applications in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure P2O is operating effectively by meeting regularly with regional C&RM teams to review activity, answer questions and provide training on the P2O framework. This would also include providing exceptions to the global framework where required to accommodate regional differences.

  • Provide oversight and final approval of a quarterly self-assessment to ensure P2O is operating with the highest possible quality globally.

  • Work with process owners to incorporate changes in existing processes or new processes into the P2O framework.

  • Working with Risk Management and other teams to find the best process in the P2O framework that can be modified to mitigate emerging risks, incorporating a new process only when needed. Always following the working guideline of ALAPAMAN or As Little As Possible, As Much As Needed.

  • Accountable for leading the C&RM Global Support Team in standardizing reporting for all regions and performing all support processes common to all regions.

  • Provide training to Application Delivery teams on the requirements for the P2O framework enabling each team to deliver their releases with minimal disruption and still meet the requirements for applicable processes in the P2O framework.

  • Working with audit on all phases of the audit process from identifying any control changes, to conducting walk throughs, to providing populations of changes, to providing control evidence for selected samples to answering all follow-up questions leading to no audit findings in the design or execution of the C&RM controls.

  • Work with Application Owners as needed to prioritize Applications for including in the BAU DQ testing portfolio.

  • Provide high-level oversight of the BAU DQ testing, ensuring app team priorities and organizational objectives are being met.

  • Work with the EMEA CM leadership team in prioritizing automation activities.

  • Provide high-level oversight of environmental support activities and results.

  • Across all three functions, C&RM, BAU DQ and EMEA CM, accountable for defining the vision and setting / adjusting the strategy to meet the needs of our IT and business partners.

  • Working with team members to define annual goals in alignment with organizational objectives and to further the team strategy.

  • Periodically measure results to ensure goals are on track and to demonstrate improvements in value brought to the organization.

  • Manage the annual budget and ensure the team remains at or under budget.

    What we are looking for:

  • 8+ years of Governance and Risk Management experience.

  • A visionary leader who can cast the vision for the team and define a strategy for reaching that vision.

  • Broad knowledge of compliance and experience working with audit. Solid experience in defining controls and ensuring their effective operation.

  • Excellent people skills enabling the building of relationships with IT partners globally.

  • Proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.) to understand risks and ensure they are properly mitigated.

  • Solid writing skills for defining and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures which define C&RM controls.

  • Mentoring team members to help improve their skills, efficiency, and productivity.
