Actalent Electrical Engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob Description

Engineer provides engineering services for the design and implementation of Microgrid Applications with a special focus on Hybrid/Solar/Renewable Energy Applications. These engineering activities involve providing professional Control System engineering services associated with the design of low and medium voltage distributed energy resources (DERs). This will be based on customer or internally provided plans and specifications that will be submitted and then released for implementation in accordance with engineering procedures and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design, layout, select components, and perform calculations for Microgrid and distributed energy resource applications.

  • Provide engineering services for low and medium voltage distributed energy resources.

  • Implement and integrate power generation and distribution systems with a focus on renewable energy.

  • Utilize AutoCAD Electrical for design work.

  • Work with Programmable Logic Controllers from manufacturers such as Emerson/GE, Siemens, and Allen Bradley.

  • Act as a system integrator, understanding high-level operation.

  • Ensure compliance with NEC standards.

  • Engage in high customer interaction, providing excellent communication and support.

  • Prepare specific documentation and reports daily, weekly, and monthly.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related technical field from an accredited university.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a power distribution engineering environment.

  • Advanced understanding of power generation and distribution.

  • Advanced understanding of solar/renewable energy equipment/system deployment, integration, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience in designing/implementing Microgrid or distributed energy resource applications.

  • Knowledge of digital multifunction relays for Genset protection and electric utility requirements: Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories and Beckwith.

  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers: Emerson/GE, Siemens, and/or Allen Bradley.

  • Proficiency in ladder logic programming.

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.

  • Experience with 2-D CAD software, specifically AutoCAD Electrical.

  • Understanding of the NEC.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Basic Field Networking experience with Modbus and/or DNP3.

  • Knowledge of structured programming communications and various protocols.

  • Experience with TIA Portal or Proficy Machine Edition is a plus.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Desire for continuous improvement.

Work Environment

The work environment involves high customer interaction, requiring excellent communication skills. The role involves working with woven and non-woven textile equipment, adhering to specific documentation and reporting procedures daily, weekly, and monthly. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00
