HR Risk Management and Governance Lead

The HR Risk Management and Governance Lead is critical in ensuring the effective management of risks, controls, and governance within our HR department, driving compliance and enhancing overall operational efficiency. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust risk management frameworks, policies, procedures, and control activities across our HR processes. You will collaborate closely with HR leaders and stakeholders to identify risks and design controls that mitigate potential threats. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating and enhancing existing governance structures, streamlining processes, and providing guidance in adherence to regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops and implements risk management strategies and frameworks within the HR department, ensuring the identification and assessment of risks.

  • Manages SOX audit requests for HR processes and data from internal and external partners, ensuring that requests are provided timely. Ensures that results of SOX audits are communicated to senior management timely and accurately.

  • Assists in managing HR vendor relations including quarterly scorecards, minutes, meeting cadences, and vendor risk assessments.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to investigate and mitigate HR-related issues and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and preventing recurrences, including HIPPA and Privacy breaches.

  • Performs issue validation. Serves as the HR Privacy Lead and the HR Data Governance Lead.

  • Designs and enforces control activities, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and enhance operational efficiency.

  • Collaborates with HR leaders to assess, manage, and mitigate risks associated with HR processes, such as talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, total rewards, payroll, and associate data management.

  • Manages the Affirmative Action Plans, processes, and both internal and external reporting.

  • Conducts regular risk assessments, gap analyses, and control testing to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Develops and delivers trainings and workshops to educate HR staff on risk management, controls, and governance best practices.

  • Monitors and reports on key risk indicators and control deficiencies, providing recommendations for corrective actions.

  • In collaboration with the Compliance department, ensures that HR compliance-related laws and regulations are implemented in a timely manner.

  • Manages internal and regulatory audit requests and reviews for HR resulting in timely responses and remediation as appropriate.

Educational Requirements

  • University (Degree) Preferred

  • 5+ Years Required; 7+ Years Preferred

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP

  • Extensive knowledge of the HR function with a solid understanding of the business and financial industry

  • Strong aptitude and knowledge of inherent risk and risk assessment analysis

  • Demonstrated ability to develop risk management framework and drive execution in a complex working environment, including effective communication to the HR leadership team and organization

Pay Range $157,000 to $212,400
