Job Summary:

The Safety and Risk Internal Process Manager brings a focus on evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of our safety and risk management processes, policies, and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk assessment methodologies, and internal audit practices, enabling them to provide valuable insights and recommendations to strengthen our governance framework. This role will identify areas of strengths and opportunities in areas of Workplace/Environmental Safety, Food Safety and other areas of Risk Management across all lines of business that will allow for strategic safety project identification. This role will assist in generating and validating reporting for Safety Performance. This role is highly analytical and a successful candidate will be well organized, detail oriented with an aptitude for data analytics across a variety of tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive internal audit plan focused on safety and risk management processes.

  • Conduct audits to evaluate the adequacy, effectiveness, and efficiency of internal controls related to safety and risk policies and systems.

  • Process Evaluation:

  • Assess and analyze existing safety and risk management processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to document and map processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

  • Policy Governance:

  • Review and assess the organization's safety and risk policies to ensure they are current, comprehensive, and aligned with best practices.

  • Provide recommendations for policy enhancements based on audit findings and industry trends.

  • Systems Analysis:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of risk management systems and tools in identifying, monitoring, and mitigating safety risks.

  • Work with IT and operational teams to ensure that systems are properly integrated and functioning as intended.

  • Reporting and Recommendations:

  • Prepare detailed audit reports summarizing findings, risk assessments, and actionable recommendations.

  • Present audit findings to management and stakeholders, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Uses data to build the business case for making a change to current practices, programs, or procedures. Partner with stakeholders on the design, testing, implementation, and evaluation of process changes to improve business outcomes.

  • Training and Awareness:

  • Support the development of training materials and programs to enhance safety and risk awareness among employees.

  • Facilitate workshops and presentations to promote best practices in safety and risk management.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to ensure the organization’s safety and risk management practices remain proactive and effective.

  • Contribute to the development of audit methodologies and tools to enhance audit effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Safety Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment frameworks, and internal audit standards.

  • Proficient in data analysis and audit software tools.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
