Equitable is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Lead Data Scientist to join our Marketing Analytics organization. If you have a passion for Marketing data science and engineering, possess deep expertise in predictive modeling, SQL, Python, are a great communicator, and excel at solving complex problems, we want to hear from you. This position is located in our Charlotte, NC office with a flexible schedule of 2 days per week in the office and 3 days per week remote.

As a Lead Data Scientist in Marketing Analytics, this role will be a vital contributor to our practice and will be directly accountable for leading data engineering and data science projects from design and development to execution. The successful candidate must be highly analytical and possess a strong passion for analytics and engineering, setting high standards, and providing high-quality results. The Lead Data Scientist will have demonstrated experience as a master problem-solver, working directly with stakeholders and marketing leadership and act as a subject matter expert. The ideal candidate will be a data rockstar having the ability to develop new pipelines and gather data from different sources and stitch them together. This position will require a superior ability to understand business problems in context, develop & execute systems aligned with goals, and work alongside team members across the organization to deliver data-driven marketing solutions.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design & development of data solutions and manage a portfolio of Marketing machine learning projects that are delivered on time and within scope.

  • Apply a mastery understanding of machine learning to solve business problems pertaining to segmentation, propensity, look-alike, retention, classification, estimation, matching, validation, testing, and monitoring.

  • Work directly with marketing and business leadership to structure business problems and drive viable, data-driven hypotheses during strategic planning and for ad-hoc projects.

  • Take full accountability of data analysis, modeling, engineering, and delivery.

  • Effectively manage expectations and communicate results to leadership, in a clear and concise way.

  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines, architectures, and datasets to support marketing analytics and decision-making.

  • Develop and maintain code using Databricks, SQL, Python, and PySpark to ensure efficient data processing.

  • Design, develop, and influence A/B test design, test and control groups, and measurement.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues to minimize disruptions to analytics processes.

  • Mentor junior team members and share best practices in machine learning & engineering.

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • M.S. in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Economics, or Data Science field of study.

  • 5 years working with statistical methods suchs as regressions, classifiers, recommenders, anomaly detection, propensity, tree methods, neural networks, econometrics, linear algebra, parametric/non-parametric modeling

  • 5 years of proven experience in a Data Scientist role, with a track record of building and optimizing machine learning models, exploratory analyses, data pipelines, data integration, and validation monitoring.

  • 5 years expertise in SQL and Python for data engineering, analysis, and predictive modeling.

  • 5 years experience working on Marketing and Product analytic projects

  • 3 years communicating and presenting results to business and technical leadership

  • 3 years leading team members and data science projects, managing tasks, deliverables, and timelines

  • 2 years expertise in Databricks and PySpark for developing cloud data pipelines.

  • 2 years experience working with Change Management and CI/CD

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM, Economics, or Data Science field of study.

  • 5 years leading team members and data science projects, managing tasks, deliverables, and timelines.

  • 2 years with modern data engineering like kafka, spark, ETL, APIs, feedback loops, web triggers, and tagging.

  • Experience working with large datasets and a deep understanding of enterprise data management principles.

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Market Research: Knowledge of market research; ability to collect, collate and analyze information about existing or potential markets and market needs.

Storytelling: Knowledge of concepts and ability to plan, create and present business proposals, initiatives and ideas by storytelling actual business scenarios that are situation-specific, engaging, memorable and persuasive as compared to one-way, fact-based presentations.
