The Hartford Fire Insurance Company in Charlotte, NC has the following opening for a Manager Software Engineering.

Summary of Duties: Serve as a professional applications lead software engineer; Provide technical expertise by enforcing the vision of the application architecture and safeguarding the integrity of the application environment in alliance with architects and other tech leads. Implement the overall technical vision for projects, programs and systems, keeping in mind cross-functional impacts, integration across the organization and architecture rationalization. Function as a subject matter expert and advocate for the software applications supported. Oversee technical deliverables for maintenance projects through the software development lifecycle, including validating the completeness of estimates, quality and accuracy of technical designs, build, performance analysis and implementation. Proactively address technical issues and risks that could impact maintenance release schedules and/or financials. Work closely with stakeholders to design and document automation solutions that align with the business needs and are consistent with the architectural vision. Mentor and train project team members and peers, both internal and vendor partners to enforce development guidelines and best practices lead change by influencing and educating Business, IT and sourcing partners. Manage and coach junior development team members. Review and provide input into Architectural designs, requirements and test cases. Remote/hybrid position. Position required to appear in office at least 2 days a week at work location listed. Position supervises 4 employees.

Qualifications: Position requires a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field plus five (5) years of post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Must have experience in each of the following skills: developing web based Java/J2EE applications; Guidewire configuration and integration development using GOSU in Guidewire; Agile scrum; Object Oriented design and methodologies; software engineering best practices and CI/CD pipeline; regulatory reporting from both a business and technical perspective; SOAP/RESTFUL Web Service, XML AND XSD; Unit Test Automation; experience as a Guidewire technical lead of an agile development team; Apache and JBOSS Application Services; Oracle database technology; and Javascript.

Salary Range: $193,357.00 - $196,100.00/year

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$193,357 - $196,100
