Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, repair, place, fabricate, install, alter, construct, and design facility components that require the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety.

  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings does no deteriorate.

  • Use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair chiller electrical control circuits.

  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.

Minimum Experience / Education:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency; Associate’s degree from an accredited institution preferred in HVAC or Engineering Technology.

  • 2-4 years experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration equipment specializing in chillers/cooling towers.

  • Knowledge and skills with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.

  • Experience with maintaining, repair, place, fabricate, install, alter, construct, and design facility components that require the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety.

  • Experience with performing routine maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings does no deteriorate.

  • Experience using electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair chiller electrical control circuits.

  • Experience in diagnosing mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.

  • Ability to operate assigned vehicles on and/or off campus and to possess, maintain, or obtain a valid driver’s license upon appointment to the position.

  • Ability to have effective verbal communication skills and comprehension, interpretation skills in both reading and writing.

  • Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
