Job Summary

Senior Design and Construction Manager is responsible for attending critical planning meetings with senior leadership, project planning, budgeting, design and construction, along with administering associated contracts, generally for large multi-million dollar projects. Coordinates work with the Plant Engineering department, assists with interior design and furniture/equipment, signage and move-in. Serves as technical and administrative resource for the Design and Construction Department. Responsible for quality assurance and customer/client relations. Qualifications

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architect, Interior Design, or Construction Management. High School or GED, required.

  • Experience: Three (3) years of experience in design and supervision of major hospital construction projects required.

  • Licensure/Certification: PE, AIA, RA, NCIDQ, preferred.

  • Additional Skills (required): Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints. Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and orally with various types of personalities. Ability to effectively interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority. Good interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation skills. Must be able to assume responsibility for the Healthcare's project budget, design and construction. Must be able to provide recommendations for project development, coordinate multiple contracts and render effective decisions in the field. Must be able to provide support leadership to the Design and Construction Management staff. Knowledge of state and federal construction regulatory requirements for the healthcare industry. Knowledgeable in all aspects of code requirements including IBC, ADA, DHSR, Life Safety, etc. Knowledge of JCAHO, ILSMS, NFPA. Knowledge of design, construction administration, project management, contractor bid selection contractor management, real estate design and facility renovation. Strong client service skills, including understanding of customer needs and expectations and knowledge for improvement to exceed customer expectations. Proficiency in the use of scheduling and project management systems. Ability to travel enterprise wide, to manage projects remotely located, and to manage multiple projects, contactors, architects, and engineering firms. Some sedentary work and walks during majority of the work day. Relocate office equipment and/or furniture ad necessary. Must possess clear professional telephone voice. Good manual dexterity required. Must be able to use typical office machines (phones, fax, copier, keyboard, etc.). Must be able to read computer screens and printed materials. May be required to work long hours during emergencies or special projects.
