This Opportunity
WSP is seeking a Senior Consultant, Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, NC . The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of civil / geotechnical engineering projects with a focus on construction quality assurance (CQA), foundation engineering, site characterization, slope stability, natural hazards assessment and geotechnical engineering for energy and transportation projects.
Your Impact
Will assist in writing record of construction reports (as-built reports) for landfills and pond closures
Geotechnical investigation, design and construction quality assurance of utility projects such as tailings storage facilities, heap leach pads, foundations and other infrastructure
Design calculations such as slope stability evaluation and settlement - Assist preparing technical reports
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
BS degree in Civil Engineering, (Geotechnical empahsis and MS degree a plus)
5 years + professional experience
Construction materials testing experience
Good writing and communication skills
Ability and willingness to travel
Must pass background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience preparing record of construction reports for heap leach facilities and tailings storage facilities
Civil 3D experience
CQA field experience for earthworks and geomembrane installation
GCI-ICP certified inspector
Professional Engineer, (PE) license
Bilingual in Spanish
Physical Demands
Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds
Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
