Actalent Systems Engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Title: Systems EngineerJob Description

Deliver efficient and cost-effective warehouse, industrial, and manufacturing automated material handling solutions per customer and end-users requirements. Coordinate the engineering and technical aspects of projects, including product and solution research, costing, engineering development, problem-solving, and model designing. Adapt, alter, or improve existing engineering and design models when necessary. Provide technical support to the Sales, Software, Installation, and Engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the Sales, Software, Installation, and Engineering teams

  • Design and develop automated systems and layouts that integrate material handling equipment and automated systems into a factory, industrial, or warehouse environment

  • Design and/or control conveyor systems in a manufacturing, industrial, and warehouse environment that supply and support Material Handling Systems

  • Understand Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) and other material movement and handling systems

  • Understand Warehouse Management/Control Software systems and how they relate to the Automated Material Handling systems

  • Redesign and upgrade existing material handling systems to fulfill customer needs and requirements

  • Support Sales and Engineering by visiting customer sites, collecting customer material handling data, understanding client operation flow and throughput, and data analysis for system design and layouts

  • Develop Mechanical and Electrical RFQs in conjunction with the Installation, Sales, and Procurement departments

  • Develop associated project-related costs and budgets from initial stages through final quotations

  • Present, review, and revise system options and pricing with/to Sales

  • Coordinate engineering design between mechanical, electrical, and software teams in the US and Japan

  • Collaborate with the Software and Installation teams during the development stage to ensure that material handling systems function properly and are installed per customer requirements

  • Review and approve drawings and functional specifications in association with material handling projects and working scope

  • Understand system schematics, including wiring diagrams, control panels, electrical and power distribution panels, UL Standards, electrical engineering codes, and safety standards

  • Provide site support for system run-off as required for project implementation

  • Travel domestically and internationally for confirmation of layout, specifications, commissioning, and equipment inspection/run-off

Essential Skills

  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, and software aspects of system integration

  • Ability to conduct throughput analyses

  • Proficient in AutoCAD; SolidWorks is a plus

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Industrial Engineering (BSIE), Manufacturing Engineering (BSMFG), or Electrical Engineering (BSEE)

  • Ability to create, read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical drawings

  • Strong numerical analysis and data handling capabilities to produce data analysis and material flow calculations

  • Ability to leverage programming skills to resolve real-world issues

  • Self-starter and self-motivated, flexible, and adaptive to project changes

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems with a sense of urgency

  • Perform under pressure to meet customer deadlines

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, furnished in written or oral form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

  • Up to 20% travel including domestic and international for confirmation of layout, specifications, and equipment inspection/run-off

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00
