Equitable’ s Corporate Tax Department is seeking an entry-level associate. The candidate will be exposed to a variety of corporate taxes, including income, franchise, premium, and sales tax. The Tax Associate will work alongside members of the Tax Department and be responsible for the accounting and or compliance for local, state and federal tax returns.

  • Prepare and assist with tax compliance including federal, state, and local tax returns.

  • Prepare and assist with premium tax accounting, including accruals and payments.

  • Handle audit inquiries.

  • Assist with other projects as assigned.

  • Participate in office team days in either the Charlotte or New York office locations.

The base salary range for this position is $58,000 - $65,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or similar with an emphasis in Taxation

  • The ability to work a hybrid remote/in-office schedule in a complex team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree/pursuing a Master's degree in Taxation

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Excellent research, analytical, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills

  • Technical aptitude and skillset

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
