University of Virginia Open rank tenure-ineligible position in Applied Math in Charlottesville, Virginia

The School of Engineering & Applied Science (SEAS) at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks candidates for an Academic General Faculty (AGF) position in the Center for Applied Mathematics (https://engineering.virginia.edu/offices-programs/applied-mathematics) (APMA).

The primary responsibility for this tenure-ineligible position is teaching undergraduate mathematics to students in SEAS. This includes teaching six APMA courses per academic year. In addition, faculty in this position will engage in service to the department, university, and professional community. Faculty appointed at a professorial rank will also be expected to engage in scholarship (as described in the school's policy on Academic General Faculty (https://engineering.virginia.edu/sites/default/files/_common/offices/Deans%20Office/ENG_FAC-05_Appoint_Promotion_AGF_v101923.pdf) ). The appointment rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation is contingent upon experience. This position will have renewable three-year contracts.

Candidates without a PhD will be considered for Lecturer ranks. Candidates at professorial ranks must have received a doctorate or equivalent degree in applied mathematics, mathematics, mathematics education, engineering, or a closely related field with a strong mathematical component by the start of their appointment. We seek applicants who can teach across the APMA curriculum . Candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment to innovative and evidence-based teaching practices and working in a collaborative instructional environment.
