Sargent & Lundy Electrical Engineer Intern in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Description

  • As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will be assigned to work on a project team and assist the engineering team members in the execution of their project work. These projects may involve the design of newand/or modifications and upgrades to existing power plant systems, components, and structures.

  • Working under the direction of senior engineers, this position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Electrical Engineering in one or more of the following areas:

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.

  • Work on a variety of tasks associated with project reporting, such as tracking and evaluating project activities, project progress, and associated data.

  • Be involved in power distribution designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services.

    Please note that this internship position does not provide a subsidy for relocation expenses.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • Must have an expected graduation date prior to Summer 2027 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or MSEE) from an ABET-accredited engineering program with a strong academic background and coursework.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills along with strong PC skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.

  • Self-Starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.

  • Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions and meet deadlines.

    Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Prior, related internship or co-op experience is preferred.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • Completed coursework in power systems is preferred.

  • An understanding of the practical application of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and technology, including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community.
