Robert Half Legal Secretary in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Description We are inviting applications for a Legal Secretary role in the legal industry. This position is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, 37450-4000, United States. As a Legal Secretary, you will be involved in managing legal documentation and correspondence in strict confidence. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare legal documents and correspondence such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, and real estate closing statements

• Manage legal documentation and correspondence in strict confidence

• Conduct thorough statistical/ documentary research

• Source and verify important case intelligence

• Produce and file various legal documents such as appeals, motions, or petitions

• Preserve an updated case record system

• Answer phone calls, take notes/messages and redirect calls when appropriate

• Maintain and update inventories of contact details

• Facilitate the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and providing timely reminders

• Manage communication with clients. Requirements • Applicant must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a Legal Secretary role or similar position within the legal industry.

• Proficiency in using LexisNexis for legal research is essential.

• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suites including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook are required.

• Experience in Calendar Management is necessary for managing appointment schedules and deadlines.

• Proficiency in Dictation is required for transcribing communications and documentation.

• Experience in Documentation is required for preparing and editing legal documents and correspondences.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• High ethical standards and professionalism, especially regarding confidentiality and privacy.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field is preferred.
