Catholic Health Initiatives Surgical Oncology Advanced Practice Provider in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Overview

Memorial Health Partners in collaboration with CHI Memorial Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Surgical Oncology Nurse Practitioner to join our specialized team. The ideal candidate will work closely with our Surgical Oncology Surgeons to provide comprehensive care to patients with benign and malignant tumors, metastatic disease, and other oncologic conditions as diagnosed. This role involves both outpatient and inpatient responsibilities, including performing clinical assessments, and managing the continuum of care for our patient population.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history-taking, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

  • Collaborate with Surgical Oncologists to develop individualized treatment plans for patients referred to the Surgical Oncology service.

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and lab results) relevant to Surgical Oncology.

  • Provide pre- and post-operative care, including educating patients and families on the disease process, treatment options, and recovery.

  • Coordinate care with other oncology specialists, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists.

  • Collaborate with rehabilitation services to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient recovery.

  • Assist in the transition of care from inpatient to outpatient settings, providing continuity and follow-up care.

  • Educate patients and families about their diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, and recovery plans.

  • Provide compassionate and empathetic support to patients dealing with complex and life-threatening conditions.

  • Participate in clinical trials, tumor boards, and ongoing research in Oncology to remain current with advancements in the field.

  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement for patient care

  • Contribute to departmental educational initiatives, including training and mentoring medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Work within a multidisciplinary team

  • Additional duties as assigned by clinical or operational leadership

Qualifications

  • Tennessee State Registered Nurse License and an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License are required for this job.

  • Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and National Provider Identifier (NPI) numbers may be required depending on the position, as well as prescriptive authority.

  • Advanced background in nursing; an understanding of anatomy, physiology, histology, and pharmacology; and strong interpersonal and counseling skills.

  • Certification by specialty area as well as work experience in specialty area are preferred but may not be required pending review by interview panel.

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound clinical judgments

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills

  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant healthcare technologies

  • ACLS, BLS

Pay Range

$48.26 - $57.67 /hour
