Summary

Perdue AgriBusiness has an opening for an Environmental Technician at our Chesapeake, VA facility. This position will be responsible for operating and providing routine maintenance for environmental equipment. Also ensures the grounds, storm water drainage and containment areas, as well as the air quality on the Chesapeake Complex meet or exceed environmental compliance requirements.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate and perform routine preventative maintenance on environmental equipment to include the yard sweeper

  • Conduct environmental compliance testing, which could include storm water sampling, opacity readings, etc.

  • Ensure all areas on the Chesapeake Complex meet or exceed environmental compliance requirements, including storm water drainage and drains or catch basins, air emission points, waste storage areas, wastewater systems, etc. Assist in the cleanup of areas as required

  • Maintain environmental records to ensure compliance with permit requirements, laws, and regulations

  • Assist in developing environmental reports required by local, state, and federal laws and regulations

  • Assist facility and operational managers to ensure waste disposal and spill responses are in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations

  • Assists facility in operation of powered equipment needed for housekeeping and storm water compliance

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management

Minimum Education

  • High School Graduate or GED required

  • College degree preferred in environmental related field

Experience Requirements

  • 2 - 4 years experience

  • Knowledge of environmental technologies

  • Strong interpersonal skills

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Able to move freely throughout AgriBusiness facilities to include climbing vertical heights (0 - 150'), carrying tools and equipment (0-50 pounds), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 - 100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (SDS sheets available). Able to communicate on the telephone and use standard office equipment.
