Aerotek Machine Operator in Chesapeake, Virginia

Job Title: Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operator to support our production operations. The Operator will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe handling of materials, operating production equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, punctual, and possess strong multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and comply with all safety procedures.

  • Transfer products using pallet jacks and forklifts, and manually load materials into the feed system.

  • Oversee and load/unload materials from the top and bottom of railcars.

  • Operate production equipment, including setting up the feed system, extruder, and auxiliary equipment.

  • Collect and maintain production records.

  • Monitor the status of the process, troubleshoot issues, and report details to the supervisor and QA staff.

  • Clean process equipment and facilities to maintain a clean work environment.

  • Inspect products in railcars.

  • Perform efficient clean-outs on production equipment for change-overs.

  • Oversee and execute specific equipment and facility improvement projects.

  • Understand and apply basic math skills.

  • Contribute to team improvements and assist in their implementation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years' direct experience in at least two of the following areas: Loss-In-Weight Feeders, Polymer Extrusion operation, Pneumatic Conveying operations, Rail Yard operations, Forklift operation.

  • Minimum of two years' experience in at least two of the aforementioned areas.

  • Six Sigma certification is a plus.

  • Experience in the Medical or Food Industry (CGMP) is advantageous.

  • Familiarity with MES systems.

  • Quality Control testing involving polymers.

  • Basic Machine Maintenance experience.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily indoors with occasional outdoor tasks. The facility is not climate controlled but maintains a comfortable temperature. This role involves working with extruder machines and biometric feeders.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00
