ABOUT THE ROLE

The Electrical Engineer Project Intern provides guidance, support, and expertise to the electrical design,construction, and commissioning of the Ponded Ash Beneficiation System (PABS) being developed in support of the Dominion Ash Beneficiation Project.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Promote and contribute to the highest standard of health and safety for employees, contractors, and third parties in all aspects of Geocycle operations.

  • Be primary liaison and electrical support for electrical design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the PABS

  • Provide technical oversight through the review of electrical drawings and verification of electrical calculations prepared by the project contracted engineers.

  • Develop detailed project schedule with input from engineering team, material suppliers, electrical installation contractors, and automation specialists.

  • Oversee contractors and coordinate work between contractors during construction phase.

  • Provide weekly updates regarding work completed and forecast scheduled work.

  • Support procurement process to find best source of electrical components.

  • Generate technical and financial project reports as necessary.

  • Upon mutual agreement of Geocycle and Intern, may develop into a full time project position.

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

  • Project Stakeholders: Communicate project status, issues, and challenges

  • Project Management Team: build close interworking relationship to efficiently coordinate multidiscipline work both in design and in construction

QUALIFICATIONS

Education : Bachelor degree or Master’s degree

Field of Study Preferred : Electrical Engineering

Required Training/Certifications:

  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)

  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)

  • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)

Travel Requirements:

Overnight travel from 10% to 40% of the time.

Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
