Description
We are offering an opportunity for a Senior Accountant role in our team based in Chestertown, Maryland. This role primarily revolves around the maintenance of the general ledger, assisting in the month-end and year-end close process, performing account reconciliations, and supporting the preparation of financial reports.
Responsibilities:
• Carry out the maintenance of the general ledger, which involves the preparation and posting of journal entries.
• Provide assistance during the month-end and year-end close processes through the preparation of necessary adjusting entries and reconciliations.
• Perform account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, which include cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
• Provide support during internal and external audits, including preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Manage the fixed asset accounting process that includes tracking capital expenditures, recording depreciation, and performing asset disposals.
• Conduct variance analysis on general ledger accounts and provide explanations for significant fluctuations.
• Ensure compliance with internal control procedures and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
• Continuously seek ways to improve efficiency in accounting processes and financial reporting.
• Assist with the preparation and filing of tax returns, regulatory reports, and compliance filings.
Requirements
• Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, preferably within the manufacturing industry
• Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• Proficiency in MS Office, with exceptional skills in Excel
• Experience with accounting software, ERP systems is a plus
• Demonstrated skills in performing bank reconciliations and month-end close procedures
• Knowledge of manufacturing assembly processes and their cost implications would be beneficial
• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
• Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus.
