Job Description

The Manager, Finance & Operations reports to the Director of the Facilities Management Business Center. This position will provide direction and leadership to the Business Center operational and financial functions. This position is charged with keeping the Director of the Business Center and senior leadership aware of all pertinent financial issues.

Primary responsibility is to provide functional support to Facilities Management in the following areas: Business Service Center daily operations, Annual capital & operating budgets, Capital project reporting, analysis and closeout; Financial reporting & analysis, utility reporting and transaction processing, capital & operating procurement and accounts payable. Utility budgeting, reporting and analysis and year-end accounting is also a substantial requirement of this role. Significant emphasis should be on budgetary control and process improvement. This role also supports contract management. Having an overall understanding of the complex funding options for capital and operating budgets is essential. This role additionally oversees monthly billing and related journal processing as well as the year-end audit needs and schedules. Partner with the Human Resources Manager to support reporting & analysis of overtime utilization and act as back-up for payroll entry and approval. This is a hands-on role and will require substantial individual effort in addition to the management aspects.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $94,600 to $118,250; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent is required, a Master of Business Administration degree is preferred.

A minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibility in finance and administration and relevant experience handling multiple projects simultaneously is required. Previous management and supervision of administrative and business function staff as well as experience working with senior executives is essential. Financial accounting background with demonstrated competency in budget development, financial reporting, and financial analysis. The ability to analyze financial data for presentation of budget projections and trend analysis is critical.

Familiarity with business systems for construction and project management preferred. Strong data analysis and computer skills are required, including: MS Excel, Google Suite, MS Word, MS Powerpoint, Peoplesoft, PMWeb, and Smartsheet or similar software.

Ability to work in a demanding fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and competing priorities is essential. Experience communicating financial concepts and budgeting issues to non-finance oriented staff is ideal.

Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as understanding financial controls and data-quality standards and an attention to detail is required.

Experience working within higher education is strongly desirable.
